Camp Hembe: A Hidden Gem

WOW! They really know how to take care of you. The accommodations are lovely and comfortable. The atmosphere at the camp was relaxing and peaceful but also fun because the staff was delightful- fun and friendly.

Our tent/room was beautiful and quite large. We had our own bathroom and shower and large sitting area. The bed was bigger than king size. The food was over the top delicious.

As soon as you start your safari drive you see animals. They packed a delicious lunch for us to take on our safari and met us with fresh juice and scented hand towel when we returned from our day’s adventure. I highly recommend using Moyo if you are going on Safari.
— June 2026 Guest Review

Positioned between the wildlife-rich Central Serengeti and the Western Corridor, Hembe offers a wonderful balance of accessibility, scenery, and quieter game viewing.

Its strategic position also reduces travel times for guests exploring both Central and Western Serengeti during their safari.

Varied Landscapes with Less Crowds

The landscape here is beautifully varied. Endless golden grasslands are dotted with umbrella acacias, dramatic granite kopjes rise from the plains, and seasonal rivers attract wildlife throughout the year. Elevated viewpoints provide sweeping panoramas that are especially breathtaking at sunrise and sunset, when the Serengeti glows in shades of gold and amber. You can spend hours exploring open plains with relatively few other safari vehicles while still enjoying access to some of the Serengeti's richest wildlife areas.

Year-Round Wildlife

Because the Hembe area combines open savanna, scattered woodlands, rocky kopjes, and seasonal waterways, it supports an impressive variety of resident wildlife throughout the year.

Large elephant families regularly roam the area, while buffalo, giraffes, zebras, topi, hartebeest, impalas, and gazelles graze across the plains. These healthy prey populations make Hembe an excellent area for predators.

Lions are frequently seen resting atop granite kopjes before beginning evening hunts, while cheetahs use the open grasslands to scan for prey. The riverine woodlands and rocky outcrops also provide excellent habitat for elusive leopards, which often spend the day resting in trees before becoming active around dawn and dusk. Black-backed jackals are another common sight, trotting across the plains in pairs or calling to one another after sunset.

During the migration season, enormous herds of wildebeest and zebras may pass through the surrounding plains as they move between Central and Western Serengeti, creating exciting predator encounters that change from week to week.

Boutique Luxury Deep in the Wilderness
